Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is making his big directorial debut with his upcoming movie, Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali. The actor has turned a ghost director for the movie, as per recent reports. While Farhad Samji was initially directing the film, that doesn’t seem to be the case now.
Salman has been taking extra steps for his movie since he does not wish to disappoint his fans who are supporting him despite the current COVID-19 situation. Thus, a report on BollywoodLife confirms that he has stepped in as the ghost director for Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali, co-starring Pooja Hegde.
This happened after Salman and co-producers of the film saw Farhad’s direction on the movie. He had helmed 10% of the movie but Salman was not convinced with the direction the film was going in and so, he stepped in as the new director.
However, since Salman is also acting in Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali, he cannot be behind the cameras at all times. Thus, he has hired a few assistant directors who handle the task when he is in the scenes.
According to this report, Farhad’s name would still appear as the director of the film since Salman stepping in to salvage his film sends out a wrong message. However, Farhad is only consulted for a few scenes.
More recently, it was also reported that Aayush Sharma and Zaheer Iqbal, who played pivotal roles in the movie, have walked out of the film. According to a report on Bollywood Hungama, Salman’s brother-in-law walked out of the movie because of creative differences. Times of India also reported that Zaheer is being replaced in the project.
The report mentioned that Abhimanyu Dassani and Meezan Jafferi (Javed Jafferi’s son) would replace the two actors in the film. This will be the first time they work with Salman on a project.
Not just them, Bigg Boss 13 star Shehnaaz Gill is also reportedly going to make her big Bollywood debut through Salman’s film. She has worked in various Punjabi movies, her last memorable role being in Diljit Dosanjh’s Honsla Rakh.
Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali is slated to release in theatres on December 30. The movie’s OTT release date and platform are yet to be revealed.
