Bhumi Pednekar shoots in Kolkata, packs ‘jhalmuri’ for home

Bhumi Pednekar came to Kolkata to shoot an ad film on Saturday. Directed by Sayantan Ghosal, the shooting took place at Technician’s Studio on Sunday. In a meeting with the media, the actress talked about her Kolkata trip. 

This was Bhumi’s first trip to the City of Joy. Talking about it, she said that it had been on her wishlist for a long time. “Many eminent personalities are from this city and Bengal. From literature to films – many greats are from this city. I really wanted to come to Kolkata,” the actress said. 

Meanwhile, she said that her family members gave her a long list of things they wanted from Kolkata. However, she could not roam around the city because she had no time since it was a one-day trip. “I wanted to visit Burrabazar to buy bangles. My family has given me a long list – jhalmuri, sweets, and other things,” she said. 

Bhumi’s Afwaah was released on OTT recently. Directed by Sudhir Mishra, the film also features Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The actress said that she ardently followed Sudhir Mishra’s films during her years of film studies. “I’m grateful for working in his film.” The film is produced by Anubhav Sinha, who directed her in Bheed. She said, “When you work with Anubhav, you get to work with a lot of brilliant minds. Everyone puts intense thoughts behind the project. It feels great that I worked with these people,” she said. 

From playing a plus-size woman in Dum Laga Ke Haisha to a homosexual woman in Badhaai Do – Bhumi has worked on various characters. She said that the first film in her career paved the way to bag interesting roles. “My first film gave the impression that I would like to choose different characters. Luckily, I got offers of such films,” the actress said.
