Bholaa Shankar is one of the most awaited films in Telugu cinema as it has megastar Chiranjeevi playing the main lead. The star hero is high on the success of his last film, Waltair Veerayya, which was a massive success making over Rs 120 crores share at the box office. Meher Ramesh is directing this film which is being produced by Anil Sunkara on his Ak Entertainments banner.
The inception of Bholaa Shankar
Director Meher Ramesh is a distant relative of Chiranjeevi and has been with the megastar for a long time now. As Meher Ramesh's last few projects bombed at the box office, he was not having any offers. But the moment Chiranjeevi decided to remake Ajith Vedhalam, he felt Meher Ramesh is the right person and hence, gave him the golden chance. On the other hand, popular producer, Anil Sunkara, who was after Chiranjeevi to produce a film of his for a long time, also got a chance to helm the big-budget drama.
Star Cast
Right from the time Bholaa Shankar was announced, there was a lot of debate as to who would play Chiranjeevi's sister. Nayanthara was approached to play the sister's role but she rejected it. Later, Keerthy Suresh was approached and she gave her nod. On the other hand, Tamannah has been roped in to play Chiranjeevi's love interest. Akkineni Sushanth, Murali Sharma, Vennela Kishore, Brahmanandam, Tarun Arora, Sayaju Shinde, Raghu Babu, and others play key roles.
Release Date
Bholaa Shankar was supposed to be released as a summer special in April 2023. But the makers felt that the Independence weekend will be a perfect time to cash in on the holiday time and decided to release the film on August 11, 2023. That means Bholaa Shankar will take on Rajinikanth's Jailer which will release a day earlier on August 10, 2023.
Trailer
The trailer of Bholaa Shankar was released by star hero Ram Charan on July 28, 2023. The promo showcased Chiranjeevi in a mass avatar like never before. Though the story looked routine, Chiranjeevi's vintage avatar pleased everyone. Bholaa Shankar is set in Kolkatta and showcases Chiranjeevi as a cab driver with a past. The promo was filled with stylish action and moving emotions featuring Keerthy Suresh. On the whole, it won mixed reactions from the public.
Technical crew
The film has camerawork by Dudley and Mahati Swara Sagar has composed the music for this film. The makers have released three songs that have caught on fairly well on social media. Marthand K Venkatesh edits the film whereas Siva and Adi Narayana have penned the stories. Sekhar Master has choreographed two songs in the film.
Budget
Bholaa Shankar is the remake of Ajith's Vedhalam and has been shot in multiple locations. A chunk of the budget has gone into the salaries of the stars. Chiranjeevi did not charge a single rupee and he will take a share in the profits. The budget of the film is 80 crores and at least half of that has been recovered through the various rights of the film.

OTT platform
Bholaa Shankar is being distributed by Zee Studios on a prestigious note. The action drama will be streaming on Zee 5 and as per the update, the film will have its digital release somewhere around the first week of October 2023. The makers have sold the OTT rights for a massive price as per the news.
Box Office prediction
Lastly, the buzz for the film is decent and as it has been some time since a Chiranjeevi film has come out, the fans are eagerly waiting for this film. The advance bookings of the film are pretty decent and the trade is expecting close to Rs 20 crores share on day one of its release worldwide. Well, we need to see how this film fares when it is out on August 11, 2023.
