Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn's latest movie Bholaa is now available for streaming. The movie can be rented on Amazon Prime Video for Rs 399, allowing viewers to gain early access to the film before its official release on the platform for all subscribers.
Fresh off the success of Drishyam 2, Ajay was expected to deliver another box office hit with Bholaa . Ajay seems to have developed a knack when it comes to remaking south blockbusters and adapting them in a way that appeals to the sensibilities of the audiences in the Hindi belt. Most of his south remakes, Singham and Drishyam film series, were all big commercial hits. However, Bholaa couldn't join that list of Ajay's successful south remakes.
Surprisingly, Bholaa managed to get some good reviews from critics. But, the reviews didn't encourage people to show up at the cinemas for this movie. And it ended up performing below expectations at the box office, continuing the Hindi film industry's struggle to stay connected with the mass audience. The Hindi film industry received a much-needed respite with Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan , which overtook the collection of KGF 2 in the Hindi heartland.
The audiences seem to be not very receptive to South remakes in the last few months. Besides Bholaa, Kartik Aaryan-starrer Shehzada and Akshay Kumar's Selfiee were also big box-office disappointments.
Bholaa is the remake of Tamil hit Kaithi — the movie that catapulted Lokesh Kanagaraj's career to great heights. The success of Kaithi led Lokesh to get the attention of the biggest stars of Tamil cinema, including Kamal Haasan, Thalapthy Vijay and Suriya. And now he's one of the most in-demand directors in India.
The movie revolves around a recently released prisoner named Bholaa, played by Ajay, who is on a mission to reunite with his daughter. However, on his way, he gets caught up in a dangerous situation involving a drug smuggling operation and finds himself fighting for survival with a group of police officers who are trying to stop the drug mafia.
Bholaa also stars Tabu, Deepak Dobriyal, Sanjay Mishra, Gajraj Rao and Vineet Kumar while Amala Paul and Abhishek Bachchan.
