Mammootty’s Bheeshma Parvam continues its onslaught at the box office, setting records by the day. The Amal Neerad directorial recently became the first Mammootty-starrer to enter the Rs 50 Cr club, with the movie grossing record box office numbers within a week of its release worldwide.

The feat is even more impressive, considering that the film is yet to be released in the US, UK, Australia and New Zealand – all revenue centres for Malayalam movies. The film’s ticket sales in the Middle East, where it opened in 158 screens, also meant that the Hollywood film The Batman couldn’t find enough screens despite the takers.

Bheeshma Parvam broke the opening weekend record, held by Prabhas’ Baahubali: The Conclusion, at the Kerala box office by raking in close to Rs 25Cr. The movie has sustained that momentum, much to the cheer of theatre exhibitors, who had high hopes pinned on the movie, considering it was the first film to release in Kerala with 100% occupancy.

Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK) president G Vijayakumar a few days ago announced that the movie had generated a revenue of Rs 8 crore for theatres in four days, another record for a Malayalam film.

The success of the gangster thriller also ensured that it became the first Mammootty-starrer to cross Rs 50 crore and depending on the trend, it is well on its way to hit the Rs 100 crore mark, with the film releasing in the US on March 10.

The movie, which has Mammootty playing Michael, also has Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Shine Tom Chacko, Srinda, Nadiya Moidu, Veena Nandakumar, Anagha, Jinu Joseph, Sudev Nair and Nedumudi Venu as part of its cast. The film released in theatres on March 3.
