“Wow Navya, what a comeback,” wrote actress Bhavana about Navya Nair’s performance in the latter’s thriller Oruthee, which released in theatres on March 18. The movie marked Navya’s return to Malayalam cinema after over a decade.
In a social media post, Bhavana lauded the movie, saying that she was “on the edge of the seat as it was so thrilling”. The actress also said, “There’s no debate that you are one of the finest actors we have, the way you portrayed Radhamani was the high point of the film.”
Oruthee, which is based on a true incident, revolves around a boat conductor named Radhamani, who has to face a series of hardships – both physical and mental – after her daughter is admitted to a hospital. After deciding to pawn her jewellery to pay the hospital bills, she finds out that the jewellery had hoodwinked her and they continue harassing her. How she battles the odds forms the plot of the film, which also has Vinayakan, Saiju Kurup and Santosh Keezhatoor in pivotal roles.
The movie marked Navya’s comeback to Malayalam cinema after 10 years. Though she had done a few TV shows and had acted in the Kannada remakes of Drishyam and Drishyam 2, the VK Prakash directorial was her first time returning to films after Scene Onnu Nammude Veedu in 2012. Oruthee is also set to get a sequel, which will have Navya, Vinayakan and Saiju returning along with its director and scriptwriter Suresh Babu.
Incidentally, Bhavana will also be making her comeback to Malayalam after five years with Ntikkakkakkoru Premondarnn, which is directed by Adhil Maimoonath Asharaf. The family drama also has Sharafudheen as part of the cast. The makers had recently revealed the poster of the film, which hints at sports, romance, food and adventure.
