Bharath, who was last seen in Naduvan (streaming on SonyLIV) which had a direct-to-OTT release, has started shooting for his next movie. The project, which is billed as a domestic thriller, is the actor's 50th film in a career spanning two decades. The untitled movie has debutant RP Bala at its helm.
He has earlier worked as a dialogue writer for the Tamil dubbed version of Mollywood movies like Puli Murugan, Kurup, Lucifer and Salute. According to a report in TOI, though the project is basically a family drama, it is the thrilling elements which are considered by the makers to be its highlights.
Vani Bhojan has been roped in to play the female lead in the movie. The duo had teamed up a few months ago for another thriller flick which was directed by debutant Sakthivel. However, the project, which was shot in and around Tenkasi, is yet to be titled.
Bala wanted someone who looks physically fit for the protagonist's role and chose Bharath as the former felt that the latter would be apt for the character. Vani plays a housewife in the movie and her character has some suspense to it.
According to the director, Bharath's character is a little different from the ones he has essayed before. The role requires the actor to depict psychopathic behaviour and the story progresses based on this character trait. PG Muthaiah and Ronnie Raphael have been brought on board to handle cinematography and music respectively for the film.
This is the second time Muthaiah is cranking the camera for a Bharath film, while Ronnie was noted for his works in Nimir. Vivek Prasanna and Daniel Annie play pivotal roles in the project which went on floors in Chennai on Wednesday.
