Bhamakalapam was one of the biggest OTT hits in the career of multilingual actress Priyamani. She was cast as a YouTuber and a culinary expert in the film, who deals with a crime scene with street smarts. A couple of years after its success, the streamer recently announced the sequel to the web film, Bhamakalapam 2. Today, the film's creators shared a significant update regarding the movie and its release plan.
Surprisingly, Bhamakalapam 2 will not directly arrive on OTT. Yes, you read that right. The film, produced by Bapineedu B and Sudheer Edara under Dream Farmers, will release in theatres first. aha Studio is presenting the film. Abhimanyu, who also helmed the first part, is the writer and director of the second installment as well. A new poster labelling it ‘a delicious heist fest’, was also unveiled by the team.
In the poster, Priyamani holds a vacuum cleaner in her hand with a dead body in a suitcase, while she’s surrounded by a series of fancy guns amidst the backdrop of a blast. “Anupama aka #Priyamani is back with #Bhamakalapam2. This time, to serve 'A Delicious Heist Feast!' with more FUN & THRILLS ON THE BIG SCREEN. In theatres soon,” aha wrote as they shared the news.
In recent times, OTT platforms have made it mandatory for films to be released in theatres first while cutting down on direct-to-OTT releases (unless commissioned by them). Bhamakalapam 2 will also star Seerat Kapoor, Brahmaji, and Sharanya in key roles. Priyamani had confirmed that she was filming for the crime comedy in Hyderabad in August. The film, which is nearing completion, is expected to hit screens in a few weeks from now.
Deepak Yaragera is the cinematographer for Bhamakalapam 2, while Prashanth R Vihari scores the music. Viplav Nyshadham is the editor and Kiran Mamidi is the art director, respectively. Aswin Budaraju and Anurag Palutla are the dialogue writers. Shankar is the stunt director and Rajini is the costume designer.
