The action thriller film, which is an official remake of the Mahesh Babu-starring Telugu blockbuster Pokkiri, featured Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role. Pokkiri, depicts Thamizh aka ACP S. Sathya Moorthy IPS’ fight against the mafia chain run by Ali Bhai (Prakash Raj). Asin Thottumkal played the female lead in the movie, which emerged as a major blockbuster

Chandramukhi

Director: P Vasu

Cast: Rajinikanth, Jyotika, Prabhu, Nayanthara, Vadivelu

Rajinikanth teamed up with director P Vasu for Chandramukhi, the official Tamil remake of Malayalam classic Manichitrathazhu. The superstar played the role of Dr. Saravanan, the character, which was originally played by Mohanlal, in the film. Jyotika played the central character Ganga aka Chandramukhi, while Prabhu appeared as her husband and Saravanan’s best friend, Senthil.

Yaaradi Nee Mohini

Director: Mithran Jawahar

Cast: Dhanush, Nayanthara, Raghuvaran, K Vishwanath, Karthik Kumar

Dhanush and Nayanthara played the lead roles in Yaaradi Nee Mohini, the official Tamil remake of Selvaraghavan’s blockbuster Telugu film Aadavari Matalaku Arthale Verule, which had Venkatesh Daggubati and Trisha Krishnan in the lead roles. The movie, which narrated the complicated love story of Vasudevan aka Vasu, and Komalavalli aka Keerthi, also featured Raghuvaran, K Vishwanath, and Karthik Kumar in the key roles.

Jayam

Director: Mohan Raja

Cast: Jayam Ravi, Sadha, Gopichand

Mohan Raja, the popular filmmaker made his directorial debut with Jayam, the official remake of the Telugu film of the same name. The movie also marked the acting debut of Raja’s younger brother Ravi, who later emerged as a popular star of Tamil cinema under the screen name Jayam Ravi. Sadha appeared as the female lead in the film, which featured Telugu actor Gopichand as the antagonist.

Badri

Director: PA Arun Prasad

Cast: Thalapathy Vijay, Bhumika Chawla, Vivek, Monal, Riyaz Khan

The Thalapathy Vijay starrer is an official remake of Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, the Aamir Khan film which itself is an adaptation of the Hollywood film Breaking Way. Badri, which is directed by PA Arun Prasad, revolves around the titular character, a happy-go-lucky young man who changes his ways after his elder brother Vetri, who is an ideal son to their father, is attacked by his arch-rival.
