Suriya, the National award-winning actor joined hands with hitmaker Hari for the blockbuster cop thriller Singam. The celebrated actor played the central character Durai Singam, an honest Sub Inspector of police who is on a mission to put an end to the atrocities of Mayil Vaaganam (Prakash Raj), a Chennai-based gangster. The movie later had two more instalments, and was remade in Hindi, Kannada, Bengali, and Punjabi languages.

Aayirathil Oruva revolves around Anitha (Reema Sen), a government official who embarks on a journey to find Chandramouli, an archaeologist, who went to Vietnam in order to search for any existence of the prince of the Chola dynasty. She is joined by Muthu(Karthi), a porter from Chennai, and Lavanya (Andrea), the daughter of Chandramouli.

The action thriller film helmed by KV Anand depicts the story of Deva (Suriya), an educated young man who works for Dass (Prabhu), a local smuggler.
