The romantic drama which is helmed by Ezhil revolves around the life of Kutty (Thalapathy Vijay), a struggling singer who develops romantic feelings for Rukmini aka Rukku (Simran), after he becomes the cause of an accident that severely impacts her life. Vijay and Simran emerged as one of the most-loved onscreen pairs of Tamil cinema with the massive success of Thulladha Manamum Thullum, which still remains one of the biggest hits in the actor’s career.

Nee Varuvai Ena

Director: Rajakumaran

Cast: Devayani, Parthiban, Ajith Kumar, Ramesh Khanna

The romantic drama helmed by Rajakumaran featured Parthiban and Devayani in the lead roles, while Ajith Kumar made an extended cameo appearance. Nee Varuvai Ena revolves around the story of Nandini, who falls in love with army officer Subramani. However, he dies in an accident a week before their wedding, and his eyes are donated to Ganesh, who lost his eyesight in the same accident.

This blockbuster family drama helmed by Vikraman still remains one of the finest Tamil films ever made in this genre. R Sarathkumar appeared in a double role as Chinnarasu and his father Sakthivel Goundar in the movie. Radhika Sarathkumar appeared in the role of Chinnarasu’s mother Latha, while Devayani appeared in the role of his educated wife Nandini, who prepares for civil service exams.

This blockbuster romantic thriller helmed by Shankar, featured Prabhu Deva and Nagma in the lead roles. Kadhalan, depicts the story of Prabhu, the student chairman of Government Arts College, who falls in love with Shruti, the daughter of Kakarla Sathyanarayana, the Governor of Tamil Nadu. This blockbuster film still remains popular, thanks to the iconic soundtrack composed by AR Rahman.

Cast: Suriya, Jyotika, Vijayakumar, Nassar, Ambika, Delhi Ganesh

This Vasanth directorial featured the much-loved real-life star couple Suriya and Jyotika in the lead roles and marked the star pair’s first onscreen collaboration. Poovellam Kettuppar revolves around the love story of Krishna and Janaki, the children of former best friends Bharathi and Kannan, the famous music composers who turn archrivals after a major misunderstanding.
