Dhool narrates the story of Arumugham, a simple villager who travels to Chennai city with his childhood friend-turned-lady love Eswari and his grandmother Mundakanni, to put an end to the villagers’ suffering due to the functioning of a chemical factory. Jyotika played the role of Eswari in the film, which emerged as a major commercial success.

This crime action film which is directed by N Linguswamy narrates the story of two powerful criminal gangs in Chennai, headed by Chinna and Periyavar, respectively. However, things take a different turn after Sekhar falls in love with Shalini, and marries her. Vikram played the role of Sekhar in the movie, while Prakash Raj and Trisha Krishnan appeared as Chinna and Shalini, respectively.
