Bengali Actress Mimi Chakraborty on Ranveer Singh’s nude photoshoot: When a woman shoots naked by her own choice, she is slut-shamed

Ranveer Singh’s nude photoshoot for Paper Magazine broke the internet on Thursday. The actor, who is known for his quirky and over-the-top sartorial choices, has literally left his fans in a frenzy. On the other hand, netizens are enjoying a field day amid an elaborate memefest. Meanwhile, Bengali actress and MP Mimi Chakraborty took to her social media handle to point out a gender perspective of the photoshoot. 

In her story, she shared a post and wrote that if it was a woman who would, by her own choice, go for a naked photoshoot, would the internet be appreciative about it. “Or the internet would have slut shamed her,” she questioned. She further added that while society talks about empowerment and (gender) equality, in reality, it is nowhere to be found. 

However, Ranveer Singh has flaunted his gender-fluid fashion statements often by replacing pants with skirts and so on. In an interview, he even admitted that he can be ‘naked in front of 1000 people’. The new photos went viral on the internet as soon as it was released on Thursday. While some fans appreciated his courage to shoot naked in front of the camera, others lauded his flawless physique and termed it as #fitnessgoal. 

An array of memes have also been doing the rounds on Twitter. Several of those took a dig at his naked photos saying, ‘All clothes are in weekend laundry’. Some netizens referred to his Gully Boy rap Apna Time Ayeega and wrote, ‘Tu Nanga HJi Toh Aaya Hai Kya Ghanta Lekar Jaayega’ on his photos. 

Meanwhile, Mimi is all set to debut in Bollywood with Paresh Rawal in Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy’s Shastry Viruddh Shastry, which is a Hindi remake of their 2017 Bengali film Posto. The actress will also be seen with Ankush on the screen after four years. As per sources, they returned from Dubai after shooting.
