Ben Affleck has been one of the most recognisable actors of the era. The actor has gone on to star in a number of hit films including Argo, The Town and Gone Girl, after getting his start with an Oscar-winning film Good Will Hunting.
However, his acting career seems to have slightly changed after he was seen in a supporting role in The Last Duel, opposite Adam Driver, Matt Damon and Jodie Comer. Though the film has been a disappointment at the box office, Affleck has managed to earn high remarks for his performance. In a similar vein, the actor will also be seen playing a supporting character in The Tender Bar, opposite Tye Sheridan.
The actor opened up about this course change in a recent chat with THIR, and revealed he enjoys playing more complex supporting roles than the lead. He thinks that the main roles are less flexible, in terms of characterisation. With tons of money on the line, the protagonists are expected to be ‘relatable’. On the other hand, he finds the supporting character’s room more open to explore the flaws and complexities, and hence, finds it more interesting.
While The Tender Bar is yet to be officially announced for a release, critics have already started giving out mixed feedbacks. On a more interesting note, Affleck is mentioned frequently to be the big flex of the movie, which suggests the pay off for his approaches towards small roles.
Meanwhile, he will also be seen leading the unnamed sequel to the 2016 movie The Accountant. He will also be seen opposite Ana de Armas in the upcoming erotic thriller Deep Water.
