Actor Ashok Selvan, who is best known for his 2020 film Oh My Kadavule, is now gearing up for his upcoming movie Saba Nayagan, which will hit the theatres on December 22. The CS Karthikeyan directdrial is a romantic comedy film, also starring Megha Akash, Karthika Muralidharan and Chandini Chowdary. Saba Nayagan follows the character played by Ashok from school to college, as he explores love and friendship in life.

1. Nitham Oru Vaanam

Helmed by Ra Karthik, Nitham Oru Vaanam is a romantic drama film that traces a young man, named Arjun (Ashok), who has OCD. He happens to read two real-life stories, and decides to go and search for the endings. He meets Shubha (Ritu Varma) on the way and begins to travel with her. The movie opened to positive reviews, with the audience praising the performance of the lead actor. It features Ashok in a triple role, with Ritu, Aparna Balamurali and Shivathmika Rajashekar as the female leads. 

2. Ninnila Ninnila

Ninnila Ninnila marks Ashok Selvan’s Telugu debut. It’s a romantic comedy film, helmed by debutant director Ani I V Sasi. The story revolves around Dev, an overweight, genius chef based in London, who suffers from muscle spasms. He meets Tara and their love blossoms. Things take an interesting turn when his path crosses with Maya. The movie was dubbed in Tamil as Theeni. It also stars Ritu Varma and Nithya Menon.

3. Por Thozhil

This crime thriller, headlined by Ashok Selvan and R Sarathkumar, revolves around a bright but faint-hearted rookie cop who has to overcome his fears in order to succeed in his first case, which sees him partnered with a reclusive senior officer to catch a serial killer on the loose. The film was well-received by the audience, and was particularly praised for its direction and intriguing style of storytelling. 

4. Oh My Kadavule

Oh My Kadavule is a romantic fantasy film, directed by Ashwath Marimuthu. The film focuses on two childhood friends, Anu and Arjun, who decide to get married. However, their marital life becomes complicated due to misunderstandings and miscommunications. The film stars Ashok Selvan and Ritika, along with Vani Bhojan, Sha Ra and MS Bhaskar in supporting roles. Vijay Sethupathi and Ramesh Thilak make extended cameo appearances in the movie. It was remade in Kannada as Lucky Man (2022) and in Telugu as Ori Devuda (2022).

5. Thegidi

Streaming on: Aha

Thegidi, directed by P Ramesh, stars Ashok Selvan and Janani. The movie garnered a lot of attention from viewers and critics alike. This neo-noir mystery thriller film follows Vetri (Ashok), a criminology student, who joins a private detective agency and is tasked with gathering information on three people. However, his subjects mysteriously begin to die one by one. The movie was remade in Malayalam as Chanakya Thanthram in 2018.
