Before Padmini OTT release, these are 4 Kunchacko Boban romantic comedies to watch

Kunchacko Boban's romantic comedy Padmini will be available for streaming on Netflix from August 11. After a long period, the actor returns to his old 'boy next door' character, which he was known for in the romantic comedies released during the 1990s. Though recently he has shifted towards serious characters, Padmini marks his return to the genre that made him famous. Let's take a look at some of his earlier romantic comedies and revisit the actor's chocolate hero characters.

Aniyathi Pravu

Aniyathi Pravu was the first movie to showcase Kunchacko and Shalini, a beloved pair among Malayalam viewers. The film is a classic love story but with a unique twist at the end. Mini, the favorite of her three brothers, falls in love with Suddhi. However, when Mini's brothers find out about their relationship, they disapprove. With the help of some friends, the lovers run away together. Aniyathipravu is also famous for its evergreen romantic songs.

Swapnakoodu

The movie directed by Kamal starred well-known actors including Prithviraj Sukumaran, Jayasurya, Meera Jasmine, and Bhavana, along with Kunchacko. The plot follows the story of three friends, Deepu, Kunjoonju, and Ashtamoorthy, who rent a house in Pondicherry and end up meeting a mother and her two daughters. Kunchacko portrays the character of Deepu, who is a composed and collected individual that struggles to express his feelings towards his love interest. In contrast to his usual romantic roles, the actor portrays a serious lover in this film.

Doctor Love

Kunchacko plays Vinayachandran, an author who writes and publishes dull love stories at cheap prices. He is also known for his ability to solve love issues and is treated as a romantic consultant in a college. The movie revolves around the schemes and plans of Vinayachandran to unify those who love each other. The film also has an ensemble star cast including Bhavana, Nedumudi Venu, Aju Varghese, and Ananya. The song ‘Ormakal Verodum’ in Doctor Love was very well received among the youth.

Kasthuriman

Unlike his other roles at that time, Kasthuriman did not feature Kunchacko as a young romantic lad riding on a motorcycle. In the film, he essayed a studious young man, Sajan whose ambition is to become an IAS officer. Sajan's classmate, Priyamvadha, who pesters him eventually develops feelings for him and they fall in love. Meera Jasmine plays Priyamvadha, the leading lady of Kunchacko in this movie. The film is scripted by Lohithadas, one of the renowned scriptwriters in Malayalam.
