Netflix has announced the release date for John David Washington starrer action thriller, Beckett

Netflix is gearing up to release the John David Washington starrer action thriller movie, Beckett. The movie was recently selected as the opening film at the Locarno Film Festival, where it will premiere on August 4. Later, Beckett will be released on Netflix on August 13, 2021. Even though the movie was initially intended for a theatrical release, the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the makers to choose to go digital. Netflix had acquired the movie in October 2020.
Beckett, which was originally titled Born to Be Murdered, was renamed in January 2021. It is an action thriller film directed by Ferdinando Cito Filomarino. The movie is set in America, Italy, Brazil and Greece. It is written by Kevin Rice and stars Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl, Tomb Raider, Ex Machina), Vicky Krieps (The Phantom Thread, Das Boot) and Boyd Holbrook (Narcos, Logan) apart from John David Washingto
The plot of the movie follows Beckett, played by John David Washington, who is an American tourist vacationing in Greece. While in Greece, he becomes the target of a manhunt following a devastating accident. Beckett is forced to run for his life and reach the American embassy to clear his name. Tension escalates as police and other authorities close in on him. Political unrest mounts and Beckett falls even deeper into a dangerous conspiracy.
Becket has been produced by Call Me By Your Name and Suspiria producers, Luca Guadagnino and Marco Morabito in association with Francesco Melfi d’Eril and Gabriele Moratti.
