Thiruchitrambalam
A heartwarming tale of Thiru aka Pazham (Dhanush) and his best friend Shobana (Nithya Menen), helmed by Mithran Jawahar, is set against the backdrop of two middle-class families in Chennai. While Thiru and Shibana share a strong and unbreakable bond, Thiru has a rollercoaster ride as far as his professional and love life is concerned. The film was a crowd favourite, which was loved by one and all.
Beast
When a group of terrorists hijack a mall and hold people captive, they demand the release of a dreaded terrorist in return for the release of the hostages. As the government and security agency mull over the next step of action, they learn that a former RAW agent (Vijay) is also stuck in the mall. With an impressive track record during his service, they then pin their hope on the ex-RAW agent. The film is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar.
Etharkkum Thunithavan
Kannabiran (Suriya) is a fearless lawyer, whose investigation into the mysterious death of young women leads him to a criminal mastermind Inba. The film, which is said to be loosely inspired by the Pollachi gangrape and extortion, revolves around how gullible women are exploited by powerful men in the society. The film directed by Pandiraj, has Priyanka Mohan as the leading lady.
Gulu Gulu
Director Rathna Kumar's Gulu Gulu has all the ingredients of a dark comedy- an abduction gone awry, senseless murders, innocuous villains and a bunch of youngsters on a mission to rescue their friend. The plot revolves around Google, a travel junkie, who ends up creating chaos after a kidnapping attempt goes awry. Will they be able to get out of the mess?
Pannikutty
Pannikutty, starring Yogi Babu and Karunakaran in the lead, is helmed by Anucharan. The plot revolves around two people, one who has to ensure that he protects a piglet until his wedding day, and the other who believes that he has been cursed after he hit a pig while riding his two-wheeler. How the two people deal with the pig becomes the plot of the story.
