Beast: OTT release date of the Vijay starrer, where to watch the movie online

Beast, which marked Tamil superstar Vijay’s 65th film as a lead actor, was received with much fanfare when it hit the big screens in April this year. Vijay plays a former RAW agent in the film who must save around 200 people from terrorists. Ghajini director A R Murugadoss was attached to helm the film, which was tentatively titled Thalapathy 65. However, Murugadoss backed out of the project in 2020, and Nelson Dilipkumar, who has written and directed films such as Kolamavu Kokila and Doctor, took over the reins.

The movie is centred on Vijay’s character, Veera Raghavan, who quit RAW after a terrorist attack in Kashmir left him traumatised. Months later, when terrorists hijack a mall in Chennai, Veera goes to great lengths to capture the perpetrators.

Pooja Hegde, who has starred in films such as Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, Housefull 4 and Radhe Shyam, plays Preethi, Veera’s girlfriend. Though Hegde made her acting debut with the Tamil movie Mugamoodi in 2012, Beast is only her second Tamil film. Apart from Vijay and Hegde, the movie features Selvaraghavan, Shine Tom Chacko, Aparna Das, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Shaji Chen, VTV Ganesh, Sathish Krishnan, Lilliput, and Ankur Ajit Vikal.

The film, backed by Sun Pictures, collected Rs 200 crore within six days of its release. Anirudh has composed the songs that have been trending on social media since their release, especially Arabic Kuthu and Jolly O Gymkhana. Manoj Paramahamsa is credited with the cinematography.
