A curated line-up of popular BBC dramas, comedies, etc., will now be available on subscription basis on Amazon Prime Video

Fans of British content, who’ve only had access to a few popular titles on streaming platforms in India like Netflix and Lionsgate Play, among others, have reason to rejoice now. The long wait for direct access to BBC Studios’ content has come to an end. BBC Studios has collaborated with Amazon Prime Video to launch BBC Player as a subscription-based service in the country. At Rs 599 per annum, Indian viewers will now have access to a curated line-up of content across categories like documentary, drama, comedy, and so much more.
The subscription will give viewers access to British masterpieces like Pride and Prejudice, Les Miserables, The Pursuit of Love; Crime TV like Unforgotten, Luther, Sherlock, Wallander, Maigret; Evergreen comedies like Citizen Khan, Yes Minister and The Office, among others. The reality TV offering will include The Great British Bakeoff and Strictly Come Dancing.
BBC Studios is he 20th add-on channel available to Amazon Prime Video subscribers. In a statement about the collaboration, Stanley Fernandes, VP distribution BBC Studios, South Asia, said that they will offer a curated, multi-genre content line-up, offering the best of British entertainment to Indian audiences.
The programming, though, is not only limited to an adult viewership. BBC Kids will also be available through this collaboration and can be subscribed to separately for Rs 199 per annum only. The pre-school kid lineup includes Andy’s Safari Adventure, Secret Hideout, Go Jetters, Hey Duggee, Junior Bakeoff, etc.
