Bazooka: Big B actor Sumith Naval joins Mammootty in this game thriller

Sumith Naval, who is best remembered as Bijo John Kurishingal in the cult film Big B, is making a comeback to Malayalam cinema alongside Mammootty in the upcoming film Bazooka. The film is directed by Deeno Dennis, son of veteran script-writer Kaloor Dennis.

Speaking during an interview with Milestone Makers, Sumith said that he didn’t get very good offers from the Malayalam industry after Big B. “Not much was offered to me after Big B. There were a few projects in the pipeline, but nothing materialised, and I got busy with directing films, instead,” the actor-director elaborated.

Sumith - who is also known for his performance in Amal Neerad movies, like Sagar Alias Jacky Reloaded and Comrade in America - acknowledged the fact that his limitation in speaking the language fluently could be a factor.

Speaking about his new movie, Bazooka, Sumith said that he is excited about the project and also assured that the film is going to be a brilliant one. “Deena has done a spectacular job, making it hard to believe that It’s his directorial debut.” When asked about Amal, his first director, Sumith said, “Some people are born for cinema, Amal Neerad is one of them.” Meanwhile, Sumith will be also seen in Bilal, the sequel to Big B with Mammootty reprising his iconic role, Bilal John Kurishingal.

The first-look poster of Bazooka has been trending on social media. In it, a stylish Mammootty is seen taking the cover off a motorcycle. The movie also features Gayathri Iyer and Shine Tom Chacko in significant roles. Tamil filmmaker Gautham Vasudeva Menon also plays a character in Bazooka, which is touted to be a first-of-its-kind game thriller in Malayalam cinema.

Nimish Ravi has been roped in as the cinematographer, while editing is done by Nishadh Yusuf. Midhun Mukundan, the composer of Rorschach, will be scoring the music, with action choreography being handled by Stunt Silva.

Mammootty’s upcoming movies include Kaathal - The Core, Kannur Squad and Kadugannawa Oru Yathra. Kaathal - The core also features Jyothika, and is reportedly set to release on a streaming platform.
