Ram Narayan’s Battala Ramaswamy Biopikku is the story of a common man. Unlike what is known to audiences, this biopic will focus on a man who is living an ordinary life, having done nothing monumental. This Telugu comedy-drama is all set to make its direct OTT release on Zee5 on May 14.
The film, set in a rural background, wrapped its post-production up in December 2020 and has been waiting to find an opportunity for a theatrical release. But due to the pandemic, the filmmakers had to push the plans for release by several months. The movie had another additional hurdle in its way - the entire movie was leaked online, with thousands of people having streamed it illegally before it was taken down. Owing to these complications, the filmmakers finally decided to release the film on Zee5.
The plot of the film follows Ramaswamy (Altaf Hassan) who has two goals in life. The first is that he wants to practise monogamy, like his favourite deity Lord Rama. His second goal is to be the best saree-seller in town. His first goal seems close when he falls in love with Jayaprada and they get married. But there is a twist in the tale of his life and before he knows it, he ends up accidentally married to two more women.
The film is a unique take on a biopic and was shot entirely in a month. The teaser of the film was released in February, which features an unnamed villager introducing the three leading ladies - Shanti Rao, Lavanya Reddy and Sattvika Jai.
