Adah Sharma’s Bastar is finally out on OTT. The movie is now streaming on Zee5 and OTTplay Premium. Although the film did not work at the Box Office, there was a reason for that. It received limited screens and did not get to perform. But with its OTT release, Bastar now has a wider range of viewers it can cater to. If you’re curious to watch the film, here are five reasons you should give it a try…
If you liked seeing Adah Sharma in The Kerala Story, you are likely to root for her in the movie Bastar too. The actress went from an IPS officer, IPS Neerja Madhavan, to someone who fights with the rebellion.
“I have not got so many compliments for any of my characters as much as I’ve got for Bastar,” Adah had told Global Movie magazine. If you want to know why the compliments, watching the movie will help you understand better.
Bastar is the name of a district in Chhattisgarh. The movie talks about the Naxalite–Maoist insurgency in the Bastar district of Chhattisgarh. The same is affecting people even in today’s times, especially in Naxal-affected areas and the places where they hold the most influence is called Red Corridor. This is in and around Chhattisgarh-Odisha and Jharkhand, Bihar and West Bengal. In their fight, the Naxalites have often targetted police and government workers. The fight is for improved rights over land and better jobs for labourers and the poor.
The film also stars Indira Tiwari as Ratna, Vijay Krishna as Lanka Reddy, Shilpa Shukla as Neelam Nagpal, Yashpal Sharma as Utpal Trivedi, Subrat Dutta as Millind Kashyap, Raima Sen as Vanya Roy, Anangsha Biswas as Lakshmi and Kishor Kadam as Rajendra Karma.

When it released in theatres, Bastar got as little as two screens. The negative reviews for the movie did not help it at the Box Office and eventually, the movie got the tag of ‘major Box Office bomb.’ However, similar was the case with Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 (not as extreme though). When the film from the YRF Spy Universe released on OTT, it received a lot of love. Similar could be the case with Bastar, which is out on Zee5 and OTTplay Premium.
