Producer-writer Vipul Amrutlal Shah, director Sudipto Sen, and actor Adah Sharma felt like they had found the supreme trio as they hit gold with their last directorial, The Kerala Story. The movie created a massive buzz, resulting in a staggering box office. They have now come back to their audience with a new film titled Bastar: The Naxal Story, which was released on the big screen yesterday.
While it was expected that the movie would not create a buzz like The Kerala Story, it turns out it has not even managed to come close to its predecessor, made by the same team. The box office numbers are out, and they do not point toward a glorious future, at least at the moment.
Bastar Box Office
Bastar: The Naxal Story, starring Adah Sharma and Indira Tiwari, has not managed to create any dent at the box office on the first day of its release. The movie, as per Sacnilk, has only managed to pull off a Rs 50 Lakh haul on the day one of its theatrical release, far less than what was estimated for a film coming from the same team that delivered a very successful film in their last run.
The movie has only managed to reach an occupancy of 7.97 percent in the country, which is very low. On the big screen, Bastar: The Naxal Story is facing tough competition from Sidharth Malhotra starrer Yodha, which was released on the same day as the Sudipto Sen directorial. Yodha has been riding on decent reviews and will only benefit if it gets an equally decent word of mouth. However, Bastar has not managed to garner many good reviews, which will affect the run of the film.
The Kerala Story Box Office
If one compares the box office collection of Bastar with The Kerala Story, it looks minuscule in comparison. Back in the day, the movie based on the alleged forceful conversion of young girls in the state of Kerala had earned Rs 8.05 crore on day one of its release, much higher than what Bastar has managed to earn.
