Basil Joseph's Maranamass to clash with Mammootty's Bazooka for Vishu 2025

Basil Joseph has been notching up interesting roles as an actor. The actor-filmmaker will be next seen in Maranamass, helmed by Sivaprasad and co-produced by Tovino Thomas. Basil Joseph had confirmed that his upcoming Malayalam film is a Vishu release. But another biggie from Malayalam, Mammootty-starrer Bazooka is also slated for a Vishu release. Here’s everything that we know about the Vishu clash between Basil Joseph's Maranamass and Mammootty's Bazooka at the Kerala box office...

Maranamass vs Bazooka for Vishu 2025

Basil Joseph had recently shared a colourful poster of Maranamass, with the rest of the lead cast and confirmed that his film is a Vishu release. The Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey actor did not reveal the exact date. However, online trackers now claim that Maranamass is slated for release on April 10, 2025. This sets up a direct clash with Mammootty-starrer Bazooka which is also slated to release on April 10, 2025. It would be interesting to see how these two films will fare at the Vishu box office in April.

There is a lot of buzz around Bazooka, which is touted to be a game thriller. Mammootty’s stylish looks from the movie have already wowed fans who are eagerly waiting for the film, which was earlier slated for release for Valentine’s Day but got postponed.

On the other hand, Basil Joseph’s Maranamass is touted to be a comedy entertainer. Basil’s funky hairstyle and look from the posters have already caught the attention of Malayalam cinephiles. Rajesh Madhavan and Suresh Krishna are also part of Maranamass.

Bazooka also features Gautham Vasudev Menon as an actor. This is the second collaboration between Malayalam megastar and the popular Tamil filmmaker after Dominic and the Ladies' Purse, which was helmed by Gautham Vasudev Menon in his Malayalam directorial debut and Mammootty. The film released in theatres in January 2025, and is rumoured to make its OTT release on Prime Video, but there is no official confirmation yet.
