Barbie is performing incredibly well at the box office around the world. The movie, which is directed by Greta Gerwig, stars Ryan Gosling as Ken and Margot Robbie as its title character, Barbie.
'Barbie' is having a decent run at the Indian box office. The film, which is based on the popular doll franchise, has collected around Rs 3.50 crore on its fifth day, as per early estimates. With this, the film's total domestic collection stands at Rs 26.75 crore, as per trade portal Sacnilk.
'Barbie' has received mixed reviews from critics but positive word-of-mouth from audiences for its fun and colourful take on the iconic character. The film also features a host of celebrities in cameo roles, including Dua Lipa, Will Ferrell and Helen Mirren.
The film faced a tough competition from Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer', which released on the same day as 'Barbie'. 'Oppenheimer', which stars Cillian Murphy as the physicist who led the development of the atomic bomb, has collected Rs 65.50 crore in India so far.
'Barbie' has also performed well in the international markets, where it has made $337 million as of Sunday. The film is directed by Greta Gerwig, who previously helmed 'Lady Bird' and 'Little Women'.
Barbie is expected to witness steadiness till Thursday and then will start facing competition by Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani directed by Karan Johar. The film, which is all set to release on July 28 is one of the much-anticipated films of the year. Aapart from Ranveer and Alia, the film will also feature Shabana Azmi, Jaya Bachchan and Dharmendra in pivotal roles.
