Out of all the current Hollywood releases, Barbie has suffered a lot. The film got lesser screens in India and has been struggling at the Box Office. This has been especially evident in the past few days. The movie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in the lead roles, did not even earn Rs. 1 crore at the Box Office over the week.
Finally, as day 16 i.e. the weekend arrived, the movie found some respite. It earned more than Rs. 1 crore. On its third Saturday, the film, according to a report on Republic TV, earned Rs. 1.54 crores.
The collection is nearly three times less than its competition – Cilian Murphy starring Oppenheimer. The film based on the scientist earned Rs. 4.48 crores on day 16.
However, Oppenheimer was too big a competition for Barbie in India. The movie has managed to beat even the legacy film of Tom Cruise, Mission Impossible: 7, in terms of Box Office collection.
The total collections of Greta Garwig’s film are, as one can expect, lesser than even half of both the other Hollywood releases. While they have crossed Rs. 100 crore mark, this one isn’t even near Rs. 50 crores.
Till day 16, Barbie earned Rs. 40.67 crores. The movie is expected to earn slightly above Rs. 1.50 crores even on day 17 i.e. third Sunday. This will take the collections to nearly Rs. 42 crores. The film might thus last at the Box Office for a week or two more.
