Anandamath is one of the most revered literary works produced by writer, poet Bankim Chandra Chatterjee. It was 150 years ago on this day that the legend had coined Vande Mataram too. Commemorating the auspicious occasion and 75 years of independence, an adaptation of Anandamath into a pan-Indian film has been announced. Shhailendra Kkumar, Sujoyy Kuttiy, Krishna Kumar B and Suraj Sharma are bankrolling the prestigious project under SS1 Entertainment and PK Entertainment.

The film is created, conceptualised by Ram Kamal Mukherjee. Ashwin Gangaraju, a former protege of SS Rajamouli, will helm the film in multiple languages. He had assisted Rajamouli on films like Eega and Baahubali and made his directorial debut with Aakashvani, a dark drama that premiered directly on SonyLIV last year. Baahubali, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and RRR writer Vijayendra Prasad has come up with the story and screenplay for the project. The motion poster of 1770 was launched earlier today.

"This is a very challenging task but Vijayendra Prasad garu has made my job easier by penning the story and screenplay. My job is now to execute it on the screen. I truly enjoy directing a film with huge sets, larger-than-life emotions and action sequences. Though I had my own inhibitions initially, Ram Kamal Mukherjee's confidence helped me give a nod. I met the producers in Mumbai recently and struck a great rapport with our vision for the film," said Ashwin.

Anandamath had shaken the daylights out of the British many years ago and I consider it an honour to be a part of a project associated with the man who came up with Vande Mataram, Vijayendra Prasad said. "Many heroes ignited the fire in our fight for independence. 1770 is their story," he added. 1770 will release in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Bengali. The team will make an official announcement on the cast and crew before Deepavali. The film is currently in its pre-production stages.
