Bangla Medium: Neel Bhattacharya and Tiyasha Roy are back with a new serial

The Neel Bhattacharya and Tiyasha Roy pair became a household name with their Zee Bangla serial Krishnokoli. After a very successful stint of four years, the serial ended in January this year. Now the duo is returning to the small screen once again. However, this time they will be seen in Star Jalsha in the serial, Bangla Medium. The channel has released a new promo for it. 

Tiyasha, who studied in a Bengali medium school, hails from a village where she teaches in a rural school. One day she gets a job offer from a well-known English medium school in Kolkata. Neel is in the governing body of the school. What will happen when people from two different backgrounds come face to face? Previously, Krishnokoli of Zee Bangla remained the TRP topper for thirty weeks where the duo played the protagonists. Bengali Medium is from the same maker as Krishnokoli.

Another popular couple, Rahul and Rukma from the serial Desher Mati in Star Jalsa, now play the protagonists in Lalkuthi in Zee Bangla. However, the duo could not yet produce that desired magic of Desher Mati in the new serial. Now, the audience is anxious about whether the same will happen with Neel and Tiyasha. 

Neel started his career with the serial Thik Jeno Love Story in Star Jalsha. Then he worked in three consecutive mega serials in Zee Bangla. Tiyasha will be seen as the heroine in Star Jalsa for the first time. 

However, the promo has received a lot of flak on social media. English accent in Bengali dialogue and hotch-potch of two languages got targeted. Someone said, “The serial will show a marriage between a poor girl and a rich boy, the girl will then stop going to school on the pretext of family, and an extra-marital affair will begin. All the stereotypes will be shown.” Another one commented, “Wow! True English! My ears are ringing!”
