Bangarraju was one of the darkhorses this Sankranthi race whose success turned out to be a surprise for the industry and crowds alike. When one biggie after the other was postponing its theatrical release owing to Omicron, Nagarjuna took a leap of faith to release the rural entertainer for the festive season and the box office result was there for everyone to see. The sequel to the 2016-release Soggade Chinni Nayana, starring Nagarjuna, Naga Chaitanya, Ramya Krishna and Krithi Shetty will now release on ZEE5 on February 18.

Written and directed by Kalyan Krishna Kurasala, Bangarraju was produced by Nagarjuna himself under his home banner Annapurna Studios in collaboration with ZEE Studios. Veteran writer Satyanand had come up with the screenplay while Yuvaraj had handled the cinematography. Anup Rubens is the composer for the same.

The story revolves around (Chinna) Bangarraju, who loses his mother Seetha early in his life and grows without the love of his father in a village in Andhra Pradesh. His grandmother Sathyabhama takes it upon herself to raise him well. Despite Bangarraju's supposedly-happy existence and his reputation of being a casanova, he is a lonely soul who yearns for the love of his family, more so his father.

Chinna Bangarraju's late grandfather returns to earth to give a direction to his life and get him married to a village belle Nagalakshmi. However, an unexpected plot to kill Bangarraju brings a twist to the plot. Is there a happy ending in store? Brahmaji, Vennela Kishore, Govind Padmasoorya, Jhansi, Rao Ramesh, Sampath and others too essay crucial roles in the entertainer that's a mishmash of many genres.
