Comedic actor Venu Yeldandi surprised everyone with his directorial debut Balagam, a film that managed to not only attract critical acclaim but also complete a super impressive 50-day run in the theatres. With Priyadarshi Pulikonda, Kavya Kalyanram, Sudhakar Reddy, Kota Jayaram and others as part of his principal cast, Venu weaved an intricate plot that took tender familial relations and life as part of a vibrant community into account. He would also ensure that the nativity and idiosyncrasies of the region that the story is set in are integral to the telling, transporting the viewer to the rustic Telangana village.

And buoyed by the success of his debut outing, Venu Yeldandi is now getting ready to bring another enterprising story to life. The actor-filmmaker took to social media a short while ago to share a glimpse of the work that's in progress, announcing that he has started on his film #2 as a writer-director. As every great story begins with a blank page, Venu Yeldandi, too, has begun his journey on an optimistic note with his friends and followers on social media voicing their complete support for him.

Although unconfirmed, reports have emerged in the recent past that noted Telugu producers Allu Aravind and also Dil Raju have signed him on for his next directorial.

Having made his acting debut in 1999, Venu Yeldandi gained prominence over the years for small-but-effective roles as a comedy actor. His affable presence on screen, witty dialogues and general comic timing earned him several opportunities, with the 43-year-old boasting close to 200 credits to his name. But, despite the initial moderate success, Venu says that the going only got tough after a point until he chose to take matters into his own hands.

In 2017, as revealed by him in an interview, he would begin working on a script and also turn filmmaker in the near future so as to navigate his career in the desired manner. He uses the term 'frustration' to describe his thought process at the time, adding that he wasn't many options but to try something new.

Balagam was produced by Dil Raju's daughter Hanshitha Reddy and nephew Harshith Reddy under the banner of Dil Raju Productions.
