There haven’t been many instances in the recent times where a Telugu film continued to perform well in theatres even as it premiered on a leading OTT platform. Balagam, directed by Venu Yeldandi and presented by leading producer Dil Raju, is enjoying sustained patronage from theatre-going crowds while it is registering new viewership records on Amazon Prime Video.

Priyadarshi, Kavya Kalyanram played the lead roles in the film that also starred Muralidhar Goud, Sudhakar Reddy, Racha Ravi, Roopa and others. The film has found a place in the top 5 list on the streaming giant among the most watched titles this week. Now, an entire Telugu village came together to catch the film. The director shared the news on his social media today, expressing his happiness.

“This happened yesterday night..I am unsure of the location..An entire village came together to watch Balagam..The scenes are similar in every village..I am thrilled..Seeking a good cinematic high, audiences are also experiencing the film in theatres too. I’ll always be thankful to viewers who’ve given me such a huge success,” Venu Yeldandi tweeted.

Earlier this week, the film was in the news for winning two major awards at the prestigious Los Angeles Cinematography Awards in the Best Feature Film and Best Cinematography categories. Acharya Venu cranked the camera for the film that was primarily shot in Sircilla, Telangana. The makers aggressively promoted the film prior to its release in the heartlands of Telugu states and it opened to glowing responses from critics, viewers alike.

Produced by Harshith Reddy and Hanshitha Reddy under Dil Raju Productions, the film had music by Bheems Ceciroleo and was edited by Madhu. Songs like Maa Ooru Palletooru, Balarama Narasayyo helped its popularity as well. While it released in theatres on March 3, the film arrived on OTT on March 24.
