Bakasuran on OTT: Where, when to watch controversial Selvaraghavan starrer

Tamil filmmaker Selvaraghavan is now in the process of establishing himself as an actor . Like his directorial outings, the movies that he picks to act in are also loaded with dark themes, heavy emotions and loads of violence. And his latest movie Bakasuran is one such movie. Filmmaker Mohan G. Kshatriyan has written and directed the movie. Billed as a ruthless revenge drama, the movie was released in cinemas on February 17. 

A little more than a month after its theatrical release, Bakasuran will be made available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video on March 24.

Bakasuran opened to mixed reviews in theatres and the gender politics of the movie also received a lot of flak from the critics. Even though it was a movie about violence against women, many critics pointed out that the movie had a problematic view on the subject. The film has been termed regressive and patriarchal. Those are the descriptions that we don't usually associate with the movies that were directed by Selvaraghavan so far. But, the actor Selvaraghavan seems to surrender to the director's vision and refrain from imposing his politics and ideas. 

While the Tamil film industry is known for making associate anti-caste movies, Mohan has made a career by doing the movie on the other side of the spectrum. His movies are often touted to be pro-casteist society. he made his directorial debut with Pazhaya Vannarapettai in 2016. Later he directed Draupathi (2020) and Rudra Thandavam (2021). 

Bakasuran is touted to be a box office hit.  

Besides Selvaraghavan, Natarajan Subramaniam is the second lead in the movie. The film also stars Mansoor Ali Khan, Radha Ravi and Saravana Subbiah in pivotal roles. Composer Sam CS, known for films like Kaithi, has scored the film's music.
