At a time when all eyes are on films like Max and UI and their release dates, Roaring Star Sriimurali slipped in quietly and dropped an update about his next, Bagheera. The film, produced by Hombale Films, which Sriimurali began working on in May 2022, is coming to theatres on October 31. Moments ago, the production house announced the same with a new post that reads, “The Hunt for justice begins! Bagheera roars into cinemas on October 31”.

Bagheera release date comes out of the blue

A few days ago, October 31 was a date that was widely discussed as the possible release date of either Real Star Upendra’s return to direction, UI, or Kiccha Sudeep’s Max. With Dhruva Sarja’s Martin fixed for October 11 and Shivarajkumar’s Bhairathi Ranagal on November 15, a Deepavali outing was what Upendra was apparently gunning for, while Max’s release date has been up in the air for a while.

In fact, a Ganesha Chathurthi update on the same was postponed at the last moment. With Bagheera now in the mix, UI and Max will have to look at dates beyond November 15 and before the proposed release of Dhruva Sarja’s KD, which is aiming for a December outing.

What's Sriimurali's Bagheera about?

Bagheera, meanwhile, has Sriimurali in cop mode, but according to the teaser, it would seem that he turns vigilante to provide society the justice it deserves. The film is quite action-packed, with several delays in the filming being due to the actor having to rest up after sustaining injuries during the shoot. The film is based on a story by KGF maker Prashant Neel, whose Ugramm had given Sriimurali’s career a much-needed boost.

Prashant and Sriimurali were to reunite for a proposed Ugramm sequel, among others, but the former’s busy schedule with films in Kannada and Telugu, meant that he has to entrust one of his scripts to be directed by someone else. Dr Suri, who has made Lucky with Yash, was chosen for the job. Rukmini Vasanth, whose popularity sky-rocketed after Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, is paired with Sriimurali. The actress will have two back-to-back releases with Bagheera and Bhairathi Ranagal.
