Prabhu Deva's Bagheera evoked curiousity among movie buffs ever since director Adhik Ravichandran announced the project. The multiple looks the choreographer-actor-director sported for the film escalated expectations surrounding the film. The makers roped in half-a-dozen female leads, thus elevating its hype further.
Amyra Dastur, Gayathrie, Sakshi Agarwal, Ramya Nambeesan, Sanchita Shetty and Janani play pivotal characters in the movie which revolves around a psycho killer who has an aversion towards women, thanks to some of the heinous experiences he faced in his life. After postponing the release date a few times, it finally hit the screens on March 3.
The movie opened to lukewarm response among critics and the audience. Its lacklustre screenplay and lack of engaging moments were criticized, though Prabhu Deva's efforts garnered appreciation. RV Bharathan has bankrolled the project under Bharathan Pictures.
Selva Kumar SK and Abinandhan Ramanujam have cranked the camera for Bagheera which has editing by Ruben and music composed by Ganesan S. Rajasekar and Anbariv have choreographed action episodes while Raju Sundaram and Baba Baskar have helmed dance moves. One of the aspects in it which many looked forward to was Prabhu's dance. However, that turned out to be the only saving grace in the film.
Bagheera is dropping on Sun NXT on March 31. We had told you earlier that the OTT platform had acquired the movie's digital rights. An official announcement on the online premiere is yet to be made by makers.
Prabhu Deva has a few Tamil films currently in his kitty which feature him in lead roles. He recently hit the headlines when he paid a tribute to the Oscar winning Naatu Naatu song from RRR along with his team.
