After the glamorous month of January, where the Golden Globes and Emmys credited the talented artists and lauded their craft, it is time to celebrate art with another coveted award ceremony. This time, it is the highly prestigious golden mask. The British Academy Film Awards, also known as BAFTA, are all set to honor the creative talents of the entertainment industry on February 18. However, due to a different time zone in India, the ceremony will be available on February 19 IST. Actor David Tennant will be hosting the event while Deepika Padukone has been confirmed for the role of a presenter at the ceremony.
The 77th BAFTA Film Awards will be held at the Royal Festival Hall in London on February 18 (Sunday). The event will be available to stream live on Britbox for the United States and other regions and on iPlayer and BBC for the United Kingdom. In India, the ceremony will be streaming live on the Lionsgate Play from 12:30 am onwards.
Interestingly, the streaming service (Lionsgate Play) previously presented three highly sought-after events - Golden Globes, Critics' Choice, and Primetime Emmys. It is now adding another gem to its library of content.
Scottish actor David Tennant will be overseeing the UK’s biggest night for films and creative talents as he serves as the witty host for the event. David has had a loyal fanbase since his tenth incarnation in the popular sci-fi series Doctor Who.
Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone also brings glory and a proud moment for India as she will be presenting the awards. She expressed gratitude on her social media account for the same. This is not the first time Deepika has been bestowed with international honour; she presented an award at the Oscar Awards last year. Besides Deepika, other presenters for the ceremony include David Beckham, Hugh Grant, Dua Lipa, Dev Patel, Cate Blanchett, and Himesh Patel. However, the categories in which they present them remain unknown.
Notably, Christopher Nolan’s period film Oppenheimer has dominated the major nominations in various categories, followed closely by Martin Scorsese’s epic crime drama Killers of the Flower Moon and Yorgos Lanthimos’ sci-fi novel Poor Things, as per the nominations that were announced on January 18.
Brace yourself to witness the glam night of talent being rewarded with a prestigious honor, along with your favorite stars walking the red carpet in their magnificent outfits!
