The 77th EE British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) welcomed distinguished guests, including Prince William, to celebrate the finest national and international films of 2023. While anticipation lingered for another memorable appearance by Princess Kate Middleton in one of her stunning white gowns, and perhaps even some playful public displays of affection between the royal couple, William arrived unaccompanied. The absence of the princess was due to her recovery from a scheduled abdominal surgery.
Prince William has been President of BAFTA – better known as the British Academy of Film and Television Arts – since 2010. The latest visuals from the high-profile awards ceremony show him gracing the event with style and elegance. He was seen wearing a clean white shirt with ironed black pants and a black coat. He aced his overall look with his precious smile. At the event, he greeted numerous celebrities including David Beckham and Cate Blanchett among others.
Earlier in the day, a statement from The Royal Palace read, “Kensington Palace confirms that the Prince of Wales, 41, will attend the EE BAFTA Film Awards ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall on Sunday night. The Prince, President of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) will watch the Awards ceremony before meeting category winners and EE Rising Star Award nominees."

Prince Philip, William's late grandfather, held the distinction of being the inaugural president of the academy. At the esteemed film event in 2023, William was joined by the Princess of Wales. She underwent surgery on January 16 at the London Clinic and has since returned home to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor to be with their three children. A friend confided to People magazine, "He is coping remarkably well considering his wife had surgery, and he only found out his father’s news recently."
Tonight's ceremony will be hosted by actor David Tennant, marking his first television appearance since his return for a series of Doctor Who specials in 2023.
