After an intense thriller like Asur 2, Ridhi Dogra is doing a complete 180 with the rom-com Badtameez Dil. As the show was released, the actor shared a challenge she faced while playing the character of Liz in the romantic show.
Liz is an emotional woman who always reads romantic novels and is seeking a lover like the one in those novels. However, she eventually falls for someone who is the exact opposite of who she is.
Asked about the biggest challenge she had while playing such a character, Ridhi told OTTplay, "It was refreshing for me to play a character like Liz, who is a romantic person. I have usually played characters who are intense, but Liz was a welcome break for me to play, especially after Asur. But it was not easy for me to play such a character because I had to make sure that the line between Ridhi and Liz did not get blurred. Liz lives in London, speaks like me, dresses the way I do, and on the surface level, she is like me."
The actress explained that the similarities made it challenging for her to find the note of the character, but she eventually got it right.
Ridhi shared, "As an actor, I put myself in my characters' shoes, but Liz is a lot like who I am. I had to find things to do to differentiate us, or rather, unique elements. For the longest time, I was wondering how to draw that. So, I used to ask Barun (Sobti, co-star), the director, the writer, and everyone else if I was doing it right. I wanted to make sure that Ridhi did not come through Liz. It was a challenge, but I eventually got it right and felt satisfied while creating this character."
Set in London, the 10-episode web series is directed by Prashant Bhagia and also stars Minissha Lamba, Mallika Dua, Shivam Bhaargava, Aalekh Kapoor, and Chirag Mehra. The show is available to stream on Amazon miniTV.
