Badhaai Do starring Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar gets a release date

Three years after Badhaai Ho, Junglee Pictures is all set to take the love for their National Award-winning movie to the next level with Badhaai Do. To the audience’s delight, the most-awaited spiritual sequel’s team just dropped an official announcement today - that it will be released on 2022’s Republic Day weekend. 

Starring Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead, the family entertainer is helmed by Harshavardhan Kulkarni. The excited team took the release news to their social media and shared a happy picture of Raj, Bhumi and Harsh. ‘Theatre ready..Aap ready..Toh hum bhi ready..,’ reads the caption. The photo was shared by Raj and Bhumi as well in their respective official social media handles.

The 2018 hit film Badhaai Ho starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Neena Gupta is all about a middle-aged couple who gets pregnant amidst the disappointment of their sons. The movie has won two National Awards then, including Best Popular Film. It has also won four awards at the Filmfare including Best Actress for Neena, Best Supporting Actress for Sikri and Best Supporting Actor for Gajraj Rao. 

Badhaai Do has all elements in itself to make everyone wait on the edge of their seats, as the prequel was much-hyped. The lead actors who are sharing the screen space for the first time, will be performing two interesting roles that they have never done before. Raj will be seen playing a cop while Bhumi will be playing a PT teacher. In a statement with Bollywood Hungama, the director had shared his excitement about the film and said the comedy entertainer will be enjoyable to the audiences. He also mentioned that the team enjoyed creating it as well. Meanwhile, Amrita Pandey of Junglee Pictures was phenomenal about bringing together Raj and Bhumi’s talents under Harsh’s direction.

Besides the lead pair, the movie has Seema Pahwa, Sheeba Chadha, Loveleen Mishra, Nitish Pandey and Shashi Bhushan essaying vital roles.
