After commencing 2023 with the crime comedy 3Cs and the talk show Nijam with Smita, leading OTT platform Sony LIV is coming up with another Telugu original. Their next is a thriller comedy titled Bad Trip, marking the directorial debut of Krishkan a.k.a Krishna Kanth Mamidala, a former associate of Hyderabad Blues filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor.
Ravi Varma, Archana Shastry, Giridhar, Chaitanya Krishna, Adrika Sharma, Prachi Thaker essay lead roles in the show produced by Mahi Illindra. The teaser of the show was unveiled by the platform on Wednesday. The glimpse takes off in a cab and revolves around the trials and the tribulations of several characters aiming to kidnap a woman in a bid to get filthy rich overnight.
Sony LIV labels Bad Trip a dark comedy thriller centred on three strangers who share a cab with a contract killer. Ved quits his software job in Bangalore to pursue his writing ambitions and lands in Hyderabad to convince his parents that he’s not ‘marriage material’ yet. He books a shared cab at a railway station and meets Abhi and Santosh, two passengers with contrasting personalities.
The trip takes a turn for the worse when they sense a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get rich. The series, spanning eight episodes, aims to explore their wacky scenario, where they undertake a task and face several roadblocks. How do they confront these twists and turns? Bad Trip is arriving on Sony LIV on March 10. The teaser doesn’t reveal much of the plot and yet grabs your attention.
The OTT platform is investing aggressively in the Telugu market and has green-lit a flurry of shows in the recent times and one can expect many more Telugu originals from the streamer in 2023. Brinda, a cop show featuring Trisha, Ravindra Vijay in key roles, is one of the major releases from the streamer this year.
