Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi starrer Baby John hit theatres on December 25, 2024. It was one of the most awaited films of 2024, but unfortunately, it didn't pan out well at the box office. The Kalees directorial went on to become a box office failure despite getting good reviews. Now, Rajpal Yadav, who was also a part of the movie, has spilled the beans on its failure. He even revealed how Varun has reacted to the same. Read on...
While speaking to Bollywood Bubble recently, Yadav, who is known for portraying comical roles, said that Baby John didn't work at the box office since it was a remake of the Tamil film, Theri. He said that if it wasn't a remake, the film 'would have been the most well-made film of his 25 year career'. He added, "But since Vijay had done it, the audience had already seen it and because it was a remake, it affected the box office of the film."
Backed by Atlee, the film also featured Jackie Shroff as the antagonist. It ended up earning less than Rs 50 crore domestically.
Further, when Rajpal Yadav was asked if Varun Dhawan was 'depressed' by the film's box office failure, he denied it. He shared, "Varun is such a sweet boy, very hardworking. He has always tried to do something different, and his attempts must be appreciated because it’s a big deal to take risks."
Rajpal played the role of Constable Ram Sevak, a deputy to Varun's character, DCP Satya Verma, in Baby John. He was highly praised by the audience, as he tried action for the first time in his career.
Meanwhile, Varun has moved on to his next project. He will soon be seen in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari with Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf. The film is helmed by Shashank Khaitan.
