Keerthy Suresh reveals how she came on board for Baby John

Backed by Atlee, Baby John is the official Hindi remake of Theri. In a recent interview with Galatta India, Keerthy revealed it was her friend Samantha Ruth Prabhu who recommended her name for Baby John. Interestingly, Samantha played Keerthy's role in the Tamil version. The actress told the portal, "She probably had me in mind when this was happening; that's what Varun also told me. I can't be grateful enough for that. It's so sweet of her to say, 'Keerthy will be able to pull off this character.' Her performance in Theri is one of my favourites in Tamil. Honestly, I was very scared."

During the interview, Keerthy recalled how Samantha supported the trailer of Baby John on social media after it was released. She said, "I remember her posting a story on Instagram after watching the trailer of Baby John, saying, 'I wouldn't have shared this one with anyone else, but you.' It was so sweet and meant a lot to me."

For those who are unaware, Keerthy and Samantha have worked together in the past. They featured in Nag Ashwin's 2018 Telugu period drama Mahanati. Keerthy won a National Award for Best Actress. 

Meanwhile, before Baby John was released, Samantha and Varun teamed up for the first time on Raj & DK's series, Citadel: Honey Bunny. The duo received a lot of praise and love from the audience. The series is available to watch on Prime Video. 

For Keerthy, apart from making her Bollywood debut, she is currently living her best life as she recently got married to her longtime beau, Antony Thattil in Goa.
