Baby John: Ahead of Varun Dhawan film’s release, here's where to watch Theri, the Tamil original starring Vijay

Baby John, the upcoming Hindi film starring Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi in the lead roles, is all set for release. The film is gearing up for a theatrical opening on December 25 for the Christmas weekend. While the makers had said that the film is not a scene by scene remake, Baby John indeed takes inspiration from this certain Tamil film starring Vijay, Theri. Here is where you can watch Theri on OTT before you book tickets for Baby John.

Baby John: Where to watch Tamil original Theri on OTT

Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi are set to star in Baby John, the Hindi film directed by Kalees. The film is produced by filmmaker Atlee who gave the blockbuster success Jawan last year. Baby John is set to release on December 25 in theatres. While there have been a lot of comparisons of Baby John with the 2016 Tamil film Theri, the makers have clarified that it is not a straight remake.

Theri, starring Vijay, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Amy Jackson, Nainika, Radhika Sarathkumar, Rajendran and Mahendran, among others, is helmed by Atlee himself. The film revolves a former police officer who after his wife’s death, takes care of their daughter and protects her from former enemies. The film is available for streaming on SunNXT and OTTplay Premium app.

Is Baby John a remake of Theri?

Afer the film’s trailer and promotional material began were released, audience began to notice similarities between Theri and Baby John. With Samantha’s role to be played by Keerthy Suresh who will mark her Hindi debut with the upcoming film, Varun Dhawan and his team had clarified that Baby John is not a straight remake.

Varun Dhawan had said that major changes have been made by the team to adapt the film in Hindi. However, Theri does serve as a source material. Further, the actor had said that from the geography to story angles, Baby John will be different and will not be a scene-by-scene remake.
