Movie buffs received the decision of Rajinikanth to re-release his film Baba with mixed response. The film, which was released in 2002, ended up as a failure at the box office despite garnering huge numbers in the initial days. The action-packed political drama was also expected to elevate the star's much-hyped political entry two decades ago.
However, the film's result left his fans dejected, and they heaved a sigh of relief only after his next outing Chandramukhi became a blockbuster in 2005. Having said that, there are some fans who consider Baba close to their heart.
They love the film for the fact that it has many scenes which reflect Rajinikanth's real-life persona. His tryst with spirituality and penchant for charity are a couple of aspects in the project that still impress those fans. Though the re-release date hasn't been announced, it looks like the film is likely to hit the screens on December 12.
The Superstar himself has now unveiled the movie's two-minute trailer. It is heard that director Suresh Krishna and composer AR Rahman have made a few changes to the movie. A picture of Rajini dubbing for a few added dialogues in the remastered version, too, did the rounds recently.
Fans are eager to know what the new version has in store for them. Rahman is also the composer for Lal Salaam now which has Rajinikanth appearing in a cameo. Many cinephiles, who missed watching Baba in the theatre, have taken to the comment section to express their excitement to catch the film in theatres.
An elated Rajini took to Twitter to post the trailer along with the tweet, "A film that will forever be closest to my heart … #Baba remastered version releasing soon (sic)."
