Preetham Gubbi, it appears, is playing his cards close to his chest, as far as his next directorial Baanadariyalli is concerned. The filmmaker has not revealed much about the story or the characters, with only bare minimum information in the public domain. The two songs he released so far establish that leading man Ganesh and Rukmini Vasanth are much in love in the film. But Baanadariyalli also has Reeshma Nanaiah on board, as a wildlife photographer, which had taken the team on an African schedule. So far, Preetham had not shown her glimpse from the film.
The teaser that came out moments ago, changes that. There are shots of Ganesh with Rukmini and with Reeshma too and while it is clear that his character is in love with Rukmini’s Leela, the dynamic with Reeshma’s Kadambari is not entirely clear. What is crystal clear is that Preetham is set to present a feel good story about love that is high on emotions and set to tug at the heartstrings of audience. And with Ganesh the master of high intensity emotional scenes at the helm of affairs, rest assured, Preetham’s mission will be successful.
So far, the response to the teaser, which was just about a minute long, has been encouraging, with fans hoping that Baanadariyalli will be a comeback for the Golden Star. Although Ganesh’s films in the last few years have not been total washouts, his fans have been complaining that he’s been stuck in a rut and doing the same formulaic romantic comedies that offer nothing new. Although Baanadariyalli is also a love story, the hope is that it will be different, as it is based on a story by popular cinematographer Preetha Jayaraman. Netizens are all praise for the visuals and the background score too, declaring that ‘vintage Ganesh is back’.
There is still no word on Baanadariyalli's renewed release date, though, with the teaser still bearing a coming soon sign only. It is being speculated that the team is gunning for a mid-April theatrical outing.
