It is always exciting to witness fresh pairings in Tinseltown. When these pairs are quite unconventional, it creates an even louder buzz. One such speculation that spread rapidly on the internet was that Meghna Gulzar had found a unique and fresh pairing for her next hard-hitting film with Ayushmann Khurrana and Kareena Kapoor Khan. The news, which hit the mainstream some months ago, left everyone excited because this was not a pairing on anyone's bingo cards. The anticipation to know the details about the project was high. But it turns out things were not in favor of this pairing, as the Andhadhun star has decided to quit the project for some reason. Yes, you read that right. Read on to know everything about this update.
This morning, we heard that the Meghna Gulzar project, titled Daayra as of now, has suffered a big blow as it is now back to square one in terms of finding its leading man. Reports have said that Ayushmann Khurrana, who was supposed to play the lead alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan, has now decided to walk away from the project because of scheduling conflicts. It is said that the actor has prior commitments that clash with the filming date of Daayra, and that is the very reason why the actor has decided to exit.
According to a Mid-day report, Meghna Gulzar is planning to go on floors with Daayra by the end of 2024. However, Ayushmann Khurrana, who is also a musician, has a music tour planned for the same time frame. He brings his tour across the US cities in November. Additionally, the actor has given his dates to three massive projects: Border 2, an untitled movie with Karan Johar and Guneet Monga, and a film with Maddock Films.
A source close to the development, while talking to the portal, said, "Ayushmann's music tour is already announced, and it includes multiple performances across major US cities. Plus, besides Border 2, he has committed to two movies, one with Karan Johar and Guneet Monga Kapoor, and another with Maddock Films. The dates are currently being negotiated for all the projects, but Meghna's movie is not on his list." Reports also say that Meghna Gulzar has already begun her hunt for a replacement for Ayushmann Khurrana.
Known for her love of telling stories about real life, Meghna Gulzar is back to telling one more such story. The Raazi filmmaker has now found her subject in a gut-wrenching story that happened in 2019. Reportedly titled Daayra, the movie is based on the 2019 Hyderabad rape and murder case. There are no more details shared about the project as of yet. It will be interesting to see whom Gulzar brings on board after Ayushmann Khurrana’s exit to star alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan.
