After a few underwhelming movies, Sasikumar began this year with Ayothi which hit the screens earlier this month without any publicity. Unsurprisingly, many film buffs weren't aware of its release until it garnered a positive response from a few critics. R Manthira Moorthy directed the project which stars Yashpal Sharma, Preethi Asrani and Pugazh in crucial roles.
R Ravindran of Trident Arts has produced the movie which has cinematography by Madhesh Manickam and music composed by NR Raghunanthan. San Lokesh and G Durai Raj have handled editing and art direction respectively.
The digital premiere of Ayothi was supposed to happen on March 31 on Zee5. Though the OTT platform was yet to make an official announcement, it was more or less confirmed. However, makers decided to postpone their plans, leaving cinephiles confused.
According to sources, the film will now drop on Zee5 on April 7. We hear that the decision was changed owing to the movie's unexpected performance at the box office. Not many anticipated that the film would mint more money in its second and third week. Sasikumar started promoting the movie only after its release, which boosted its economic prospects.
Ayothi revolves around a do-gooder who lands in trouble after he helps a girl who has been chased by a few religious extremists. How he rescues her and love transcends religion form the rest of the story. The project, which is based on a few true incidents, garnered appreciation for portraying human values.
