Sasikumar, who has been having a dry spell at the box office for quite a few years, came up with Ayothi earlier this month without much noise. Though the film hasn't turned out to be a big money-spinner, it surprisingly opened to good response from critics and the audience.
This was one film of the actor which was released with almost zero publicity in recent years. The film started attracting viewers gradually owing to positive word of mouth. The movie helmed by R Manthira Moorthy is now gearing up for its digital premiere.
Yashpal Sharma, Preethi Asrani and Pugazh among others play pivotal characters in the movie which has been bankrolled by R Ravindran under Trident Arts. It revolves around a man who gets mired in a criminal case in an unexpected circumstance. How he tries to save himself despite detractors lurking in every turn forms the rest of the story.
The engaging screenplay and relatable emotions are considered to be the positive aspects of the movie which has cinematography by Madhesh Manickam and music by NR Ragunanthan. San Lokesh has handled editing while G Durai Raj has helmed art direction.
Dinesh Subbarayan and Sherif have choreographed action and dance sequences for Ayothi which is dropping on Zee5 on April 7, exactly after five weeks of its theatrical release. An official announcement on the same is expected to be made in one of the coming days. The movie is likely to garner more appreciation after its OTT premiere.
Sasikumar, who was last seen in Kaari, has Pagaivanuku Arulvai, Naa Naa and Nandhan in his kitty. He had three releases last year, and is expected to don the director's hat again soon.
