Shot completely on a mobile phone, Raviayaa is based on a true story and real incidents which took place across India during the 68 days-long national lockdown from March 25 2020 to May 31 2020. It won the Best Short Film award in the drama category at RATMA International 10 Minutes Film Festival, UK. Besides, it was among the 21 best films selected from across the globe in the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM).
The short film was screened at various other international film festivals and since then have been winning laurels across the globe. Biswanath Rath’s short films have won several awards and recognition in more than 250 international film festivals to date. Now, streaming on ABC Talkies, Ravaiyaa is dedicated to the stranded Indian migrant labourers, who had suffered during the nationwide lockdown necessitated by the outbreak of COVID-19. It mirrors the sorry plight of India’s migrant labourers during this hour of the pandemic.
ABC (All Bout Cinema) Talkies, on which Ravaiyaa is streaming, is a platform that aims to help independent filmmakers monetise their content. It also serves as a marketplace and aims to transform the way people make and watch movies. The platform, comprising films across multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Odia to name a few, allows consumers to purchase content on a pay-per-view basis. The eight-minute-long short with Ashish Kumar and Rohit Kumar in its cast is available for purchase at Rs 36.
