In 2022, when the movie completed 20 years, Firoz Nadiadwala revealed in an interview with Bollywood Hungama that they were planning a sequel to this cult classic. He shared that Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal would definitely be part of it, with Ahmed Khan directing.
The filmmaker also discussed the original film's A certificate rating, expressing their disappointment: “There was nothing adult in the content. The film had no bloodshed as well. However, our censoring process happened very late. We could have gone to the Revising Committee but we didn’t get sufficient time for that. Hence, we had to make do with whatever rating we got. I remember the Censor people told me, ‘Aapko 'A' dene waale hai’. I thought they were saying the film is ‘A-class’. Later, I found out they meant it would get an ‘A’ certificate!”
